Next, here is a small bio introducing our newest acupuncture practitioner – Farris Johnson. It can also be seen on our website. Some of you may already be familiar with Farris if you have recently been to Friday Night Acupuncture Happy Hour ($15, 5:00-6:30 PM, drop-ins welcome until 6).

Farris grew up in Georgia and worked for years as a youth wilderness counselor, teacher, and tutor before moving to Maryland to pursue a degree in acupuncture. A recent Tai Sophia graduate, he is committed to bringing affordable acupuncture and wellness education to groups in the DC Metro area.

As Farris puts it, “I am continually amazed that tiny pins inserted just under the surface of the skin and a thoughtful question by a practitioner helped heal my shoulder, strengthen my bladder, and lift my depression; the same medicine has allowed me to help others heal their necks, stomachs, cancers, and spirits. I believe acupuncture is the answer to crises of healthcare, community, and ultimately the planet.”

Welcome Farris!

Social Media: Blue Heron is taking off!

Greetings and happy penultimate day of Community Week, Fall 2011. With the Fall schedule bringing us new classes and updates on beloved classics like acupuncture treatments and massage, I would like to take a minute to let you know about Blue Heron’s web presence.

As for the new items, Blue Heron now has a twitter account! Click on the hyperlink or search for us at your convenience “BlueHeronWellns”. BHW will be sending out daily tweets keeping you abreast of the goings on in the facility, like open weekend appointments, new product offers, new coupon announcements, etc. Most of this information will come from a combination of the website, bi-weekly newsletters, and blog posts, but it will now be available to you in true mobile convenience with the brevity that only a 140 character limit can bring.

With regards to our classics, if you are reading this post you may already realize that Blue Heron is bringing blogging back. Here you will be able to find permanent hyperlinks to the bi-weekly emails, as well as a short weekly post to keep you in the loop. For example, if you hear about a new product on twitter you can come here to check out more about what convinced us to offer it. And stay tuned for our new website in the near future; the same trusted product with a brand new look!

Really want to go the extra gigabyte? “Like” our facebook page, or leave a review on google, yelp, or yellowpages.com.

Got questions/comments/concerns/suggestions about BHW’s web presence? Leave us a comment! We’d love to hear from you.
